Well this some extra icing on the cake…
Last weekend, while the Brooklyn Film Festival was wrapping up, there was another festival happening in California.
Some people involved with Pine Crest (the one-of-a-kind trailer park for antique trailers where we filmed Nicola’s cabin) started the Secret International Outdoor Arts and Film Festival. Even though Pose is a bit longer than their rules allowed, the asked me to send it in anyway since we shot there and used some of the trailers.
Well, I guess they liked it enough to give it the Honorable Mention award!
Thank again to all the cast and crew, everybody at Pine Crest, Timo Elliott, and the SIOAFF!

Hello friends!
I am so thrilled to announce that after we had such a good turnout for our two screenings at the Brooklyn Film Festival, we went on to win the Audience Award for the Experimental category.
Thank you so much to everyone that came out and voted, and thank you again for all of the ongoing support and good vibes. And thank you to the Brooklyn Film Festival for everything, including having the awards ceremony on my birthday.

Pose is screening THIS WEEKEND at the Brooklyn Film Festival!
There are two screenings: -Saturday, June 11th, 5:00pm at Brooklyn Heights Cinemas. -Sunday, June 12th, 3pm at indieScreen in Williamsburg.
Ticket information and directions can be found at the BFF website.
There will be a Q+A after the screening, and then we’ll wander somewhere nearby and have some refreshments. Looking forward to seeing you there!

It is my absolute pleasure to announce that our little film has been accepted as an Official Selection in the Brooklyn Film Festival. In what will hopefully be the first of many this season, Pose will screen in competition in the Experimental Film category.
The festival runs June 3-12 (closing night also happens to be my birthday, so I’m double excited). When they post specific showtimes next week, I’ll update the blog to let you all know. The films this year are screening in two awesome theaters in Brooklyn: indieScreen in Williamsburg, and Brooklyn Heights Cinema (down the street from my favorite Pizza in NY and my second favorite ice cream in NY).
Tickets are pretty cheap, and I have a limited number of passes and discounted tickets, so drop me a line if you’re interested in going and I look forward to seeing you there! There is an audience choice award in each category so if you can’t make it, please tell 100 friends to come.
Thank you again for all of your hard work, faith, and good vibes.

This is a quick motion test to help visualize the interaction between the multiple screens in a gallery version of Pose.
The actual arrangement of the screens will be site specific and will also incorporate sculptures from the film and, of course, hanging light bulbs that pulse with the film and interact with the people in the space.

Pose DVDs are finally done and ready to be sent out!
Ok, backtracking a little bit….It’s been a while since I’ve posted here. While the film is “done” and this website has been stagnant for a while, it does not at all mean that I’m not following through with actually getting the film seen.
It just means that I’ve had to concentrate on other things, like working on other films or focusing on my camera work. It means that it has taken a little bit longer to get the gallery version on track and get it sent off to festivals.
However, things have been progressing. Since screening at NYU, my friend Kevin Siwoff helped with some sound mixing issues which allowed us to remake the master tape and order all the DVDs. I’ve just finished sending it off to its first round of festivals, many of which cater to experimental films and I hope to hear back in January or February.
I’m going back home to Los Angeles in November and trying to get some screenings together out there and hopefully find a venue to exhibit in when the multi-screen version is finished.
In the meantime, DVDs are getting sent out to friends and family, or you can get one for a donation of $10 that goes toward making the gallery piece a reality. Send me an email for more info.
Keep checking the blog and have a wonderful autumn. Thanks for your ongoing support and interest.
Best,
Ivaylo Getov, Director - Pose

This picture is not a flagrant Apple endorsement, but in fact is a photo of the master tape of the single-screen version of Pose. In other words, it’s done* and ready for everyone! Stay tuned for info about screenings and DVD availability.
For the NYC crowd, check it out Sunday, April 11th at NYU’s First Run Film Festival. See the previous post for info (facebook users click here).
*The theatrical version is done, but there’s still going to be an immersive gallery-based version coming this summer.

Boy wonder Paul Penczner does some ProTools wizardry to clean up a dialogue scene.
